Slighty Mad Studios has announced that Project CARS is set to be released on the 8th of May. The game has been delayed several times but this would appear to be the final release date.
It was originally set for release last November on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One but was then pushed back to March, then April and then finally to sometime in May. There’s still no definite news on when the title will make its way to the Wii U, however. The developer has remained silent on its plans to bring Project CARS to Nintendo’s struggling console, but hasn’t gone so far as to confirm its cancellation. So it still looks to be in development, but it’s anyone’s guess as to when it will see the light of day.
Project CARS has looked very impressive since it was announced, bringing together various motorsport disciplines while delivering absolutely gorgeous visuals. The game has been in development for quite some time now and is being built in collaboration with its own community, who help to generate the assets, artwork and content. Maybe that’s why it’s taking so long? But the results appear to be speaking for themselves, and Slightly Mad Studios has said it is settling for nothing less than the crown for the most technically advanced racing game ever made. That’s quite the claim.
In the meantime, Slightly Mad Studios has released a new trailer into the wild, showing off the racing sim’s career mode. Rather than sticking to just one type of car, in Project CARS you can prove your skills as a multi-disciplinarian of a range of different vehicle types, including Karts. Check it out below.
