Blizzard has announced that the anticipated Hearthstone expansion pack Curse of Naxxramas will be available in July.
Posting on the official forums, Blizzard developer Aratil said that,
“Just wanted to give everyone a head’s up that we are currently targeting to release Curse of Naxxramas during the month of July,” Blizzard developer Aratil said, via the official forum. “Unfortunately, we still have a lot of implementing and bug fixing to get through, so please stay tuned! With that said, we are also targeting to reveal pricing details regarding Curse of Naxxramas next week on July 1st, so please keep an eye out for that.”
Blizzard has released quite a few details about the changes in gameplay for the expansion as they try to replicate the famous raid instance from World of Warcraft in card game form. Naxxaramas will feature 5 separate wings where players will battle through the horde of 15 classic raid bosses from the instance and ultimately the legendary lich Kel’Thuzad. In addition, a total of 30 new cards will be added to the game, many of which will include Deathrattle abilities. Summoned creatures with Deathrattle trigger an effect when they die.
While the first wing of Naxxramas will be free for all players, the other four wings will need to unlocked via in-game gold or purchased with real money. Completing each wing will bring with it a guaranteed legendary card, while a series of class challenges will net class-specific cards.
If you haven’t tried out Hearthstone yet, then you have nothing to lose by doing so – the game is available as a free download on PC and iPads, and it’s really rather good. We scored it 10/10 in our review, stating: “Hearthstone may see Blizzard aiming at a more casual market, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. This is an utterly fantastic game that exudes polish from every digital pore. If you love card games, love Warcraft, or just love games in general, you owe it to yourself to play Hearthstone.”
