The anticipated rumours surrounding a possible live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, have turned out to be just that - rumors.

Last month several sources reported that a Legend of Zelda series would most likely make an appearance on the streaming service Netflix at a much later date in time. Esteemed publication The Wall Street Journal was among them, which added credence to the story, and saw the rumors making headlines on practically every gaming site going.

However, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has rejected the rumors in an interview with TIME magazine, saying that the publisher had no information to share about any new IPs in the cinematic realm, and that “the article in question is not based on correct information.”

Still, Iwata was prudent with his words, stopping just short of an outright denial - meaning its possible we could get some content along these lines, just not what The Wall Street Journal have reported on.

The initial article stated that The Legend of Zelda live-action series will be a family fun adventure into the world of Hyrule.
