Pikmin 4 has been confirmed, and is “very close to completion,” according to Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto in an interview with Eurogamer.
Miyamoto disclosed the sequel’s existence to the gaming website in an interview that took place in July. However, in a rather odd move by Nintendo, the interview was embargoed until just yesterday.
Beyond confirming the game’s development, neither Nintendo nor Miyamoto have specified what platform or release date Pikmin 4 will be available on.
The series’ most recent installment, Pikmin 3, was released back in 2013 on the Wii U. Like its predecessors on the Gamecube, Pikmin 3 is a real-time strategy game has your character controlling an assortment of tiny creatures in order to survive the hostile planet you find yourself on. Though Nintendo has yet to release more details about Pikmin 4, chances are it will follow the same basic formula.
