War for the Overworld devs release patch 0.60

War for the Overworld gets updated to 0.60

War for the Overworld has today received a major patch, Subterranean Games has announced.

The spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper has been in the works for a long time - it was originally backed on popular crowdfunding platform Kickstarter back in 2012. But despite delays, the team is determined to ensure it meets its new projected release date, currently set to be in the first half of 2015.

The latest update adds the first 3 levels of the game’s story campaign, a skirmish mode, improvements to the user interface, improved graphics and a host of bug fixes. But fans of Bullfrog’s classic Dungeon Keeper will be delighted to know that the eminently quotable Payday feature has finally been added to the game. Richard Ridings’ announcement that “It is PayDay” is one of the most recognizable gaming quotes of the 1990s, and his involvement with War for the Overworld meant that it was only a matter of time before the feature saw a return.

Subterranean Games has put together a video outlining all the changes in the latest patch, which you can view below. As massive fans of Dungeon Keeper, we can’t wait for the game to be finished. What do you think?
