The Witcher 3’s Small Text To Be Improved Next Patch

Witcher3_smalltext1

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has come into the world with rave reviews and previews - including our own pre-review of The Witcher 3, with our own Dale Morgan say that “Rarely has an RPG felt so detailed, nor its world so alive and believable.”

However, something it hasn’t seemed to come with is appropriately-sized text, which has led to many players and critics complaining that much of the text is difficult to read.

Players have been complaining since release about the text being too small, doubly so on smaller televisions, sinche the game launched this past Tuesday. Even for players with HD televisions, if they aren’t close to the screen the font size is proving to be problem. Patch 1.03 has recently appeared on PC, and will be coming soon for consoles - but unfortunately doesn’t address the text size issue.

However, CD Projekt RED has said that resolving the text size is on the priority list, and will more than likely come in the next few patches.

Text size on televisions has been an issue for a long time, and will likely continue to be a recurring gremlin as technology leaps further and further forward for consoles, PCs, and resolution sizes. That said, if “text can be hard to read” is one of the worst problems a game can be facing on launch, at least it’s a relatively harmless one. Especially in the face of other, disastrous releases of recent memory.
