After spending a year in early access, the final version of Cosmochoria is out today on Steam.
The bizarre indie game, developed by Nate Schmold and funded by 1,255 Kickstarter backers, features a naked astronaut who flies through space, planting seeds on dead planets in order to bring them back to life. Described as “a love letter to old-school action / arcade games like Asteroids, Mario Bros. and Sinistar” by the developer, Cosmochoria boasts an unlockable-weapon system to keep things interesting as you navigate procedurally-generated galaxies and blast your way through waves of alien enemies.
Cosmochoria will release with the standard slew of emoticons, backgrounds, badges and trading cards, as well as another much-loved Steam bonus – a launch discount sale. The game will be 50% off for the first week of its official release, so even if you didn’t jump on the early access train, you can still snag the game on Steam for $4.99.
