Atlus has announced that Persona 4 will be available on the PlayStation 3 as a PS2 Classic starting April 8.
If you haven’t experienced Persona 4 yet (or any Persona game for that matter) and you don’t have a Vita or a PlayStation 2, this is your best bet to watch 100 hours of your life disappear.
Originally released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, Persona 4 is a widely acclaimed game with a fighting game spinoff (Persona 4 Arena) and a PlayStation Vita port (Persona 4 Golden). Persona 4 is a standalone game in the Persona franchise, revolving around a series of grisly murders in the sleepy town of Inaba. As a stone-faced, silent transfer student, you must marshal a campy, scrappy band of high schoolers with deep self-esteem and identity issues to fight thinly veiled sexual, Jungian, and Freudian monstrosities in an alternate world that can only be accessed by jumping into a television screen. An eclectic mix between a dating sim and Pokémon, Persona 4‘s main strengths are its phenomenal characters and writing.
With several upcoming Persona games - Persona Q, Persona 4 Arena: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold, Persona 4: Dancing All Night, and Persona 5 - April 8 marks the beginning of a busy and exciting year for Atlus.
