Perhaps taking a hint from Steam and Origin, Microsoft is currently testing a feature on Xbox One which will see selected games made free to download and play for 24 hours. While the company hasn’t officially said anything about the feature yet, people taking part in the console beta testing program have found that it’s live right now - Press Play’s Max: The Curse of Brotherhood can be downloaded for free and played to your heart’s content for the next 24 hours. It’s listed under the Xbox One’s Games with Gold section under the label “Free Play Day with Gold”.
It will be interesting to see where Microsoft is going to take this feature; the platform holder has been making a concerted effort recently to combat the long-standing perception among many gamers that Xbox Live offered less value for money than Sony’s PS+ equivalent on PlayStation 4.
