Is anybody a fan of Star Trek? Ever wanted the holodeck to be a real thing? Well, it looks like we’re taking steps to make that the case. Microsoft showed off a demo of Minecraft using holographic technology at E3 earlier today, and it will blow you away.
You’ve probably seen Minecraft thousands of times before, and if you haven’t, get out from under your rock. However, this new technology makes it almost look like a new game. The Microsoft Hololens allows you to create a hologram of a Minecraft world on any flat surface.
It’s almost like giving you the option to play on god mode, with the power to change the world with your voice and hand motions. You’re able to flip, zoom and adjust the map in any other way using only your hands and voice. The game even intuitively detects where you’re looking, allowing for even more control. This is especially impressive when he commands the game to make lightning strike where he’s looking.
Me explaining this can’t do it justice though, so just take a gander at the video below (courtesy of YouTube user GolemDE) and get excited for the real-life holodeck.
