Hearthstone, the ridiculously addictive trading card game set in the Warcraft universe, is now available globally as a free download for iPad, Blizzard has announced. Previously, the iPad version was only available in selected territories.

Adaptations for other platforms are in the works, though there’s no word yet on when we can expect them to be released.

Launch the game on a mobile device and you will be automatically gifted a pack of cards. Thankfully, the game is cross-platform compatible - so whether you’re sitting at your desk or tapping away on the bus, you can work on building up your profile.

We thought rather highly of Hearthstone when we (well, me) reviewed it recently, scoring it 10/10: “Hearthstone may see Blizzard aiming at a more casual market, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. This is an utterly fantastic game that exudes polish from every digital pore.”
