First screenshots from Telltale’s Tales from the Borderlands

In anticipation of Telltale’s collaboration with Gearbox Studios, the first screenshots from Tales from the Borderlands have been released.

Tales from the Borderlands is billed as “more story driven” series set within the Borderlands universe, which is usually more concerned with guns, loot, guns, and… erm… more guns. And sarcastic robots.

While there’s been no details about a firm release date, Telltale has mentioned that Tales from the Borderlands will be ready for download later this Summer.

While story details are a little thin on the ground, we do know that the game is set after the events of Borderlands 2, and will two playable characters: Rhys, a “scheming, low-level data-miner within Hyperion”; and Fiona, “a clever and classic fast-talking con-artist.” Both Rhys and Fiona will bring two alternating perspectives on the story as the plot unfolds.

In a departure for the series, Rhys and Fiona are not Vault Hunters; but they will come across vault hunters such as ZerO. Tales from the Borderlands will also feature other notable characters from Pandora’s past, and all events that take place will be part of the official Borderlands story canon.

Adam Sarasohn, a Producer of Tales from the Borderlands, released pricing details and a few other features on the Official PlayStation Blog. Each episode will be $4.99, with the option of purchasing a Season Pass - similar to Telltale’s previous titles. Sarasohn also mentioned that loot and collectables collected within Tales from the Borderlands will be available for use in “other areas” of the Borderlands franchise - presumably the upcoming Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

In the meantime, here’s another look at the trailer that Telltale released last December; we’ll keep you posted on any more Telltale news - as well as release dates for all of their upcoming titles - as we get it.
