E3 2014: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Release Date

Trainers, get ready to return to the Hoenn region as earlier today Nintendo announced that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be released on the 3DS on November 28th 2014. True to Pokémon tradition, both titles will be released in tandem with each other and feature a slightly different roster of catchable Pokémon for players to trade.

While both Omega and Alpha are remakes of the original Ruby and Sapphire titles from 2003, they will both launch with a host of new features to modernize their gameplay and graphics. The Mega Evolutions from Pokémon X/Y will once again be included as the rare next level of Pokémon evolution. However, players will need to obtain a special “Key Stone” that unlock the hidden potential of any “Mega Stones” held by Pokémon during combat, with new stones hidden through the game.

It wouldn’t be an updated Pokémon game without the return of the legendary monsters from Ruby and Sapphire, Groudon and Kyogre, who have both “evolved” into the “Primal” versions of themselves. When Groudon and Kyogre evolved into their Primal states they grow to a massive size and burst with the energies of their new abilities.

Check out today’s trailer displaying the updated visuals and animations.
