E3 2014: Mirror’s Edge

Mirrors_Edge

DICE came on stage during EA ‘s E3 2014 press conference to talk about what they have done with their reboot of the franchise.

They discuss how the game is heavily focused on movement, and how they’re working with parkour artists to build a Faith who is a pro at what she does. They also spoke about how Mirror’s Edge will be more open, with multiple paths through the environments you get to to navigate. Quicker routes are available for those skilled enough to run them, though slower, safer routes exist for those less ready at the controls.

Likewise, the combat system is overhauled to keep Faith moving - a nice touch compared to the old system which would have Faith stop at almost every encounter.

Even the Runners have been redesigned; we are pleased to hear that this version of Mirror’s Edge will show more on who Faith is, and why she is the way she is; and she is Faith, but “for a new generation.”

You can watch their presentation below.
