Live on Microsoft’s E3 stage, developer Playground Games released their new trailer for Forza Horizon 2, to be released on September 20, 2014. Horizon 2 is the continuation of the popular Forza Motorsport franchise, and sequel to 2012’s Forza Horizon on Xbox 360.

Set in Europe, Playground is aiming to evolve the gameplay of the franchise to create a more realistic experience for fans. Horizon 2 will feature real world locations of southern France and northern Italy, as well as real tracks for players to challenge each other in multiplayer. Further complimenting the real world experience will be a new “Dramatic Weather” system in place to make all the gorgeous cars look amazing in the rain.

Speaking of cars, Forza is known for using real trademarked cars in the franchise and Playground is proud to announce that Horizon 2 will feature over 200 licensed cars, the most diverse and unique roster of cars ever featured in the franchise. Horizon 2 will also focus in more on the social elements of gameplay by allowing players to join online clubs of over 1000 members to create a more dynamic multiplayer experience. Players can also drop in and out of a race at any moment seamlessly transitioning from lobby to the tracks.

Enjoy the onstage trailer straight from E3, we’ll bring you any more updates of Forza Horizon 2 and any other breaking news in Continue Play’s coverage of E3.

Update:

Here is a fresh batch of screenshots released post Microsoft for Forza Horizon 2. Racing games launched at the start of a console generation usually show the potential and power of the new hardware, and these are stunningly realistic shots of cars in action.

Enjoy.
