E3 2014: Final Fantasy VII: G-Bike - New Screens

G-Bike_Feature

Square Enix has just dropped some new screens for its upcoming Android/iOS remake of Final Fantasy VII’s addictive G-Bike mini-game, Final Fantasy VII: G-Bike. The game was announced at E3 and initially appeared to be little more than a cynical cash-in, but the more we see of it the more we’re interested.

Square Enix has promised the game will be more than a straight up port of the original mini-game, and that it will include RPG elements such as character customization, development and item collection. Indeed, the screens below show off many Final Fantasy VII themed elements that weren’t in the original mini-game; in one screen Summon Ifrit is seen floating in front of a wall of flame, seemingly chasing after the player. In another, Final Fantasy VII’s infamous first boss, the Guard Scorpion, makes an appearance.

Interestingly some of the screenshots were labelled “Hisatsu”, the Japanese term for an ultimate attack, or as they are known in the world of Final Fantasy VII, Limit Breaks. We’re not sure at this point in time if Limit Breaks, such as the spin-attack seen below, will be gained for taking damage as was the case in the original Final Fantasy VII. Check back with us for more details.
