Destiny is a Sony Exclusive in Japan

Destiny_37-1024x576

In a surprise move, Destiny creators Bungie and Sony have partnered to make Destiny a PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 exclusive in Japan only. Detailed by Sony Japan (in Japanese, of course) in a press release, its likely that develop Bungie and publisher Activison Blizzard thought it made far more sense to cater to the market that Japanese people actually buy into, which if you were wondering, is not Microsoft.

Destiny will be released in Japan on September 11th, two days after the American release on September 9th. The timing of this is quite interesting, as the first Microsoft Xbox One console is only expected to launch in Japan a week before, and having Destiny on it may have been a big boon to potential Japanese consumers.

We will update you with more information as it becomes available.
