According to Kotaku (thanks guys!) next years big Assassin’s Creed is going to be set in Victorian London - perhaps the most technologically advanced era the Assassin’s Creed franchise has ventured into (besides those terrible Desmond levels).

The new annual installment is due out next Autumn and will take you through the shady back alleys of London, during a pretty exciting historical period that saw a rapid growth in trade and industry - as well as the rise of the Workhouse and, of course, notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper. Fans have been asking for this historical period for some time, and their cries have finally been answered in the form of Assassin’s Creed: Victory (a rumored title - definitely not official) which will be out next year for PS4, Xbox One and PC (according to someone familiar with the game, says Kotaku).

Victory is the first Assassin’s Creed game developed by Ubisoft’s Quebec studio instead of the Montreal office, which has developed all of the major releases since 2007. Whether this means good things or bad for the franchise is unknown, we’ll have to wait and see. Perhaps the Quebec studio will breathe new life into the franchise.

Ubisoft Quebec isn’t completely new to the series: they are credited for having developed various downloadable content for both Assassin’s Creed III (The Tyranny of King Washington) and Assassin’s Creed IV (Freedom Cry).

The other significant change coming along with Victory is the full switch to current gen consoles. Assassin’s Creed Victory will be the only main game in the franchise to be released next year so if you were expecting two separate releases (like this year’s Rogue and Unity) think again. The era of Assassin’s Creed on the Xbox 360 and PS3 seems to be over.
