This year’s Battlefield game has been announced by EA.
Battlefield 1, to be developed yet again by DICE, will see the series take the conflict all the way back to the first World War. There’s a trailer below, if you’re interested.
A release date has been set for October 21st on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, though you can get it three days earlier if you preorder the Early Enlister edition. Or, if you’re a member of EA Access, you can start playing from October 16th.
Here’s the official blurb from EA:
“Set against the backdrop of World War 1, witness the birth of modern warfare, as the Great War saw a furious arms race with new machines and weapons created to get the upper hand during the most technologically divergent war of all time. Feel the intensity and immersion as Battlefield 1 takes advantage of this modern arsenal to deliver the experience fans love, but with a fresh and modern twist.”
Given the time period, you can forget about flying jet planes and wielding automatic weapons. But Battlefield 1 will still feature plenty of vehicles. Biplanes, battleships and tanks will all feature. And for those of an Equestrian bent, you can even ride horses. Yes, you read that right. Horses. Take that, Call of Duty.
