New Fallout 4 Video Series Sure Is S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

Hilarious new Fallout 4 video series examines the RPG's 7 core character stats.

Never one to miss a promotional trick, Bethesda has released a wonderfully tongue-in-cheek video promoting Fallout 4.

The new video is the first in a series of seven, each focusing on one of Fallout‘s seven core character stats - Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck. This first video, rather logically, focuses on the Strength stat, and is presented in the familiar faux-50’s atmosphere that Fallout is known for. It’s both gory and incredibly funny, so if you’re at all interested in Fallout 4 you should get a kick out of watching it.

The latest RPG from Bethesda, Fallout 4 seeks to refine many of the systems that defined last gen’s Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. The VATS targeting system returns, though it now merely slows down the action rather than pausing it entirely. Bethesda has also given a lot of attention to the real-time gunplay, with the aim of ensuring that Fallout 4 stands up to scrutiny when placed against major first person shooters.

In a significant addition to the series, in Fallout 4 you’ll be able to found and expand your own settlement - crafting new buildings and structures such as power generators, water purifiers and base defenses. Bethesda has also ditched the level cap this time around and you’ll be able to continue exploring the wasteland of Boston after the story concludes - something which Fallout 3 was initially criticized for not allowing until the Broken Steel expansion launched about 8 months after the game’s release.

Fallout 4 is due for release November 10, 2024 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
