LEGO Marvel’s Avengers Delayed To 2016

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers has been delayed to January 29, 2016, publisher Warner Bros. has announced.

The game, which is in development by long-time LEGO game developer Traveller’s Tales, is based on both of Marvel’s Avengers movies - 2012’s first film and this year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. The game was originally due for release in the Autumn. No reason for given for the delay, though it’s likely that the upcoming release of LEGO Dimensions has something to do with the move. That game launches in September, so it’s more than likely Warner Bros. to wants to ensure it has enough breathing room, particularly given that Dimensions features characters from Marvel’s long-time publshing rival DC, who is now owned by Warner Bros.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will feature an updated version of the open world map of New York last seen in the excellent LEGO Marvel Superheroes, with levels taking additional lcations from the films. Warner Bros. has revealed that new additions to the game’s expansive roster will include Jane Foster as Marvel’s new Thor, and New Miss Marvel Kamala Khan. Squirel Girl is also set to return, in a move sure to please the character’s devoted fanbase.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will be released on pretty much every platform you care to mention when it finally arrives next year: PS3, PS4, PS Vita, PC, 3DS, Xbox 360, Xbox One and 3DS.
