Open world zombie survival game Dying Light is to receive a major expansion, developer Techland has announced.
Dying Light: The Following will add a new playable area to the game, said to be the same size as “all the previous maps from Dying Light combined”, and a new drivable all-terrain buggy in which to explore it.
“For Dying Light: The Following we’re adding a number of bold game-changers to create one massive expansion,” said producer Tymon Smektala. “Something big that will give the game a brand-new flavor. The new map alone is the same size as all the previous maps from Dying Light combined, so there is a lot we’re packing in here.
“We also kept a close eye on player feedback to help tailor what we’ve created here. Hopefully people will see that this new expansion is first and foremost, for the fans.”
The expansion will be free for those who have purchased Dying Light’s season pass, but will also be made available as a separate download, the devleoper has confirmed. No release date or pricing information has been announced.
That’s all we know for now; Techland is currently inviting members of the press to preview the expansion behind closed doors at Gamescom next week, with a full public reveal following “shortly after”.
