More Kombat Packs Hinted For Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat X might be getting more fighters, it’s been hinted.

NetherRealm Studios yesterday perked the ears of the particularly privy fighting gamers at the end of a livestream, with what appeared to be a subtle hint dropped at the end pointing towards more Kombatants. Whilst showing off the final addition to their first Kombat Pack - Tremor - a member of the game’s development team stated that this was the end of “Kombat Pack 1” - implying that more are planned in the future.

Mortal Kombat X shipped with 25 playable characters though one of them, four-armed half-dragon Goro, was locked behind a paywall. The season pass Kombat Pack DLC added a further four to the roster: Tanya, Jason Vorhees, Predator and Tremor, bringing the game’s total playable roster to 29 Kombatants.

Other characters appear in the game’s single-player campaign, such as Sindel and Smoke; but up to now they’ve only been playable via a hack on PC. And while characters who are officially playable contain 3 variant fighting styles, these characters only have one. Could it be that NetherRealm plans on fleshing these characters out and releasing them via DLC?

Dale Morgan reviewed Mortal Kombat X for Continue Play, awarding the game a score of 8/10. “Mortal Kombat may have started off as little more than a novelty over 20 years ago, but in 2015 the series feels as enjoyable and fresh as it ever did back in 1993,” Dale wrote in his Mortal Kombat X review.
