Obsidian Entertainment and Paradox Interactive have revealed the first expansion for Pillars of Eternity at E3, called The White March - Part 1.
This expansion will raise the level cap, add new multi-class abilities, bring in two new companions (rogue and monk), add a new AI system for the party, along with a host of other additions.
“The response to Pillars of Eternity has been incredible,” said Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment. “We knew, when we started work on the game following our crowdfunding campaign, we had the potential to create the kind of game world we’d want to visit again and again for a very long time. The White March is just the second step in our own long campaign to bring more and more of the Pillars of Eternity world to life, but with us always making sure we live up to the faith our fans have placed in us.”
In case you didn’t know, I quite liked Pillars of Eternity, awarding it a 10/10 in my review. In that review, I stated that “By the time the final credits roll, you’ll be left in no doubt that what you’ve experienced is a modern classic of the role-playing game genre. Obsidian set out to create a spiritual successor to classic role-playing games. But instead of feeling like a pale imitation of past glories, Pillars of Eternity manages to join their ranks. It is, quite frankly, one of the best role-playing games ever made.”
It’s fair to say that I’m more than a little bit excited for The White March, which is due to release sometime soon on PC and Mac. In the meantime, take a gander at the trailer below.
