Bungie has raised $400k towards the relief efforts in Nepal, in wake of the devastating earthquake that hit last month. Bungie announced this most recent milestone in it’s latest weekly update. This disaster recovery campaign was launched only a week ago.
Bungie is raising money through the selling of special Destiny t-shirts (that come with a free in-game item). All the proceeds from these sales go to Direct Relief, who provide medical assistance to those affected by natural disasters.
The death toll in Nepal is now close to 8000 and countless more have been left in desperate need of aid.
Bungie’s relief campaign will continue for at least another week. From now until May 13th, the Bungie Foundation will match an additional $15 for every shirt sold, up to a total of $50k. This means that total new funds raised could reach $100k by the end of the week.
Destiny developer Bungie aren’t the only games company that are sending aid to Nepal either. Far Cry 4 studio Ubisoft and EVE Online developer CPP are also doing their part.
