Developer InXile announced today that Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition will be a free upgrade to those who already own the game.
Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition is an improved and expanded version of the original Wasteland 2, which was kickstarted and released in September last year.
Visuals are vastly improved due to a switch to the Unity 5 game engine - improving textures, character models and lighting. There have also been thousands of new lines of voice acting recorded.
More on the gameplay side of things, new perks and quirks have been added, as well as a new precision strike system which allows you to target specific body parts, each inflicting a different debilitating effect (much like VATS in Fallout).
There will be overhauled game balance, item drops, and reworked combat encounters throughout the game too.
InXile CEO, Brian Fargo, said that “We wanted to re-affirm our gratitude to our backers and our dedication to RPG fans, as we have been most fortunate to return to our roots,”
“We plan to continue our proud tradition with Bard’s Tale 4, which we’ll crowdfund later this year.”
Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition is not only coming to PC, but also to PS4 and Xbox One sometime in late summer. Take a gander at some shiny new screenshots below.
