The playable teaser for Silent Hills, P.T., is no longer downloadable from your PS4 game library if you’re in the US. It’s still working in Europe, but it’s unclear for how long this will be the case.
After the cancellation of Silent Hills was confirmed, P.T. was removed from the PlayStation store, although it could still be downloaded if it was in your game library. However, it’s now been confirmed that if you don’t currently have P.T. installed on your PS4, then you won’t be able to download it again. Even if you have P.T. in your game library and try to download it, you’ll just be met with an error message that reads “Cannot download” (tested over at Gamespot).
Konami announced that P.T. would be removed from the PlayStation network in late April, but didn’t inform us that it would be completely nuked from existence. Usually, if a game becomes unavailable on the PlayStation store, so long as you added it to your games library, then you’ll still be able to download it anytime you like. It seems that someone has pushed pretty hard for any traces of Silent Hills to remain just that, silent. It’s unclear why such lengths have been taken to ensure that P.T. never sees the light of day again. With all the strangeness happening at Konami though, these events are hardly surprising (just annoying).
Some people have been capitalizing on this and are now selling PS4s with P.T. preloaded on eBay for over $1000.
So, if you do have P.T. installed on your PS4, then never uninstall it.
