Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Officially Announced

Adam Jensen in Mankind Divided

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has been officially announced by Square Enix following the Game Informer leak earlier this week.

Following on from a cryptic stream on Monday, Game Informer confirmed the release of the sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution with a promised twelve-page coverage on the title.

The fifth game in the main franchise (including The Fall), Deus Ex: Mankind Divided takes place in 2029, two years after the famous “AUG incident” of Human Revolution, which led to the death of millions. In the midst of the social and political chaos which ensues, Adam Jensen re-enters the fray - now a covert agent for Interpol empowered by brand new augmentations to bolster his powerful, strategic arsenal - and travels to locations never-before seen in the Deus Ex series to uncover the truth, in a bid to restore a sense of normality to the world. Players will take on the role of Adam to take the right approach and decide who is best to trust, in order to unravel a worldwide conspiracy.

Mankind Divided is set to build upon the franchise’s trademark choice and consequence systems and the traditional action-based gameplay to provide the “ultimate Deus Ex experience.”

“For 15 years, Deus Ex has been a point of conversation across the games industry and beyond, whether the topic is the franchise’s unique gameplay or topical narrative focused on advanced biotechnology and human augmentation,” said David Anfossi, Head of Studio, Eidos-Montréal. “What began with Deus Ex: Human Revolution goes to a whole new level in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, diving even deeper into this discussion and, in turn, offering fans an all-encompassing experience, one which will challenge their skills as players and emphasize decision-making based on real world topics.”

There’s still no solid release date set for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided; however, the stealth-action RPG is set for release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, presumably towards the end of the year.
