Hearthstone’s Blackrock Mountain Adventure opens first wing

First Wing of the New Hearthstone Expansion Released

The first wing of Blackrock Mountain Adventure, the new single-player adventure for Hearthstone, is now available.

In Blackrock Mountain Adventure, you’ll be pitted against a host of iconic foes in five different wings. Each of these five wings can be purchased with 700 in-game gold per wing or for $6.99/ £4.99 per wing on PC, Windows and Android tablets and the iPad. If you think you’re up for the challenge you can purchase the Blackrock Mountain bundle, which includes all five wings of the adventure for $24.99/ £17.49 (£18.99 on iPad). The first wing, Blackrock Depths, opens today with one additional wing opening each subsequent week throughout April.

The first wing contains 3 boss encounters - normal and heroic - against Coren Direbrew, High Justice Grimstone, and Emperor Thaurissan. Just like the previous single-player expansion Curse of Naxxramas, normal mode is relatively straightforward, while Heroic mode bosses are likely to require a custom deck in order to defeat them. Defeat them and you’ll gain some new cards to add to your collection. You can also try your hand at a couple of new class challenges, which will unlock class-specific cards upon completion.

“Adventure Mode challenges players to think outside of the box and come up with creative new strategies,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “After the new bosses and unique mechanics in Blackrock Mountain put their skills to the test, we can’t wait to see how players use all the new cards in their decks.”

If you haven’t given Blizzard’s card strategy game a go yet, then Dale’s 10/10 review might convince you to give it a try. “The good news? It’s excellent – polished to a mirror shine, wonderfully balanced and steeped in minor details that will have Warcraft fans alternately giggling and nodding in appreciation,” Dale wrote in his Hearthstone Review.

“The bad news? You’re likely to lose a lot of time – and potentially spend a lot of money – playing it: It’s ridiculously addictive.”
