Blizzard has announced that Blackrock Mountain Adventure, the new single-player expansion for the ever-popular Hearthstone, will be released next week - April 3rd, to be precise.
The expansion adds a new board (more things to click on!), new cards (31 in total) and a series of increasingly difficult battles against computer-controlled opponents. It’s the second such expansion, after Curse of Naxxramas did something similar last year.
If you pre-order the expansion now, which will set you back $24.99/ £17.49 / €21.99, you’ll gain access to each of the expansions five wings as they become unlocked, as well as an exclusive card back for your account. You’ll also be able to unlock individual wings with in-game gold - each wing will set you back 700 coins, which actually isn’t too bad - particularly if you’re a skilled player, unlike myself.
Being a bit rubbish at the game didn’t stop me from thoroughly enjoying Blizzard’s take on the card strategy genre, however - I awarded the game a well-deserved 10/10 when it first launched last year. “Hearthstone may see Blizzard aiming at a more casual market, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time,” I wrote in my Hearthstone Review. “This is an utterly fantastic game that exudes polish from every digital pore. If you love card games, love Warcraft, or just love games in general, you owe it to yourself to play Hearthstone.”
