Hearthstone’s next expansion is Blackrock Mountain Adventure

Hearthstone: Black Mountain Adventure Announced by Blizzard

Blizzard has announced the next expansion for Hearthstone at PAX East this week.

Blackrock Mountain Adventure follows in the footsteps of Curse of Naxxramas in that it’s geared around single-player content. Similarly to CoN, Blackrock Mountain Adventure will add a new board to the game, consist of 5 wings (which will unlock on a weekly basis), 17 bosses and 31 new cards.

Of the new cards, 5 have so far been revealed - and there’s already some interesting synnergies emerging. Rend Blackhand is a 7-mana 8/4 Legendary, with a Battlecry that lets you destroy an enemy Legendary card if you control a Dragon when he’s summoned on to the board. Grim Patron, meanwhile, could see plenty of use in Priest and Paladin decks; he’s a 5-mana 3/3 minion, which sounds quite pricey - until you consider that every time he takes damage and survives, he summons another Grim Patron onto the board.

Dark Iron Skulker, meanwhile, could be just the solution you need to deal with those pesky Rush Decks. When he’s summoned for 5 mana, he deals 2 damage to all undamaged enemy minions. Stick him in a Druid deck with a couple of innervates, and you could have an early-game board clearer.

Blackrock Mountain Adventure is due out next month on PC, Mac, Android tablets and iPad. Each wing will cost 700 gold or $6.99 to unlock, or you can grab the whole lot in one go for $24.99. UK and EU pricing has yet to be announced.

Blackrock Mountain is best known for being one of the most challenging areas in the original incarnation of World of Warcraft, and was home to the fiery demon Ragnaros - who already exists in Hearthstone as a Legendary card.
