Just Cause 3 officially confirmed by Avalanche and Square Enix

Game-changing mechanics

After a few instances of internet leaks and teasers to the possibility of a new game in the franchise, and a lot of “no comment” statements, Square Enix and Avalanche have finally confirmed that Just Cause 3 will be coming in 2015 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Christofer Sundberg, founder and Chief Creative Officer at Avalanche, has explained that in Just Cause 3, they’re sending returning protagonist Rico Rodriguez to an archipelago in the Mediterranean, armed with his trusty grapple and parachute. There will be some upgrades for sure, as Sundberg hinted at improved mechanics and Rico’s personal wingsuit. Who doesn’t want their own wingsuit?

It’s been a while since we last saw Rico - Just Cause 2 was originally released back in 2010 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC to generally positive reviews, so upgraded mechanics to this open world adventure are a must-have. Fear not, says Sundberg, because Avalanche is giving us “game-changing upgrades” and “Just Cause 3 truly represents the next generation of chaotic sandbox fun.”

Which is nice.

Sundberg hinted at more news to come “next year,” so we might have to wait and see what else is in store until well after the holiday season has passed. Fingers crossed that we get an official multiplayer mode this time around - we had to rely on modders for that one last time.

One thing has been confirmed, however - Avalanche has stated that Just Cause 3 will not contain micro-transactions or be free-to-play, so you can all put your pitchforks down now. Panic over!

We’ll bring you more on Just Cause 3 as we hear about it. Here’s hoping that’s not too far away.
