Thomas Was Alone coming to current gen in November

Curve Digital has announced its intention to bring indie puzzle platformer game Thomas Was Alone to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U this November.

Created by British developer Mike Bithell, the game follows the journey of several polygons as the embark on a quest to reach a state of emergence. Each polygon has a different voice and set of skills which the player must utilize in order to reach end-game. The game is narrated by Danny Wallace - writer of Yes Man and King of the Kingdom of Lovely - whose role won him a video game BAFTA in the ‘Performance’ category.

The game itself began as a Flash-based browser game back in October 2010, where it became fairly popular and in turn was expanded and eventually released on Steam in 2012. The game has grown considerably since then, also enjoying releases on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, iOS and Android.

The good news for those of you who purchased the game for either PlayStation 3 or Vita, or even downloaded the game during PlayStation Plus: Thomas Was Alone is a cross-buy title, which means that if you own a PlayStation 4, you can play the title on the platform free of charge. For everyone else, the game will be available for £6.99/$9.99.

The marketing director over at Curve Digital - Jason Perkins - said: “Thomas Was Alone came to PlayStation right at the start of their campaign to make console development more appealing to smaller developers. Since then, indie games have become a much larger part of the landscape for all major platform holders. It’s exciting to be working with Mike again and to be able to bring the title to even more gamers while offering a free copy for original PlayStation fans.”

To celebrate the announcement of the release to current-gen, Curve has created a documentary-style video which showcases the experience of porting the game to console, which you can view below.

We love Thomas Was Alone here at Continue Play. Wesley reviewed it back in February and gave it 9/10, stating that “Thomas is a concoction comprised of three compounds: story, gameplay, and music. All three of these elements are as close to perfection as we’ve seen in a long time … probably since Valve wowed the industry with Portal in 2007.” You can read his review here.
