Resident Evil: Revelations 2 goes Episodic

A few days ago we reported on the new features and details for Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations 2, and today Capcom has released that the game will be episodic with four episodes being released over the period of one month. When considering the success of Telltale’s brand of episodic game development, this transition for Revelations 2 could turn out to be a good move by Capcom as it will let them control how quickly their game is beaten.

There are several options to choose from as you can purchase the digital season pass for $24.99 or each individual episode at $5.99. There will also be a disc-based version of the game for brick and mortar stores that will be priced slightly higher than the digital version at $39.99. Unfortunately for our European readers there has been no official word on what your pricing would be, but Eurogamer has speculated. Copcom has also stated that there will be bonus content for both versions of the game, but little word on what that content would be or when it would be provided.

Initially there was no annoucment on what platforms the game would be released for, but Capcom has announced that it will launch sometime early next year on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Along with this interesting development comes an official announcement trailer from Capcom that shows off some of the classic Resident Evil atmosphere that the older games were known for.

There is sure to be more announced at next week’s Tokyo Game Show and we’ll bring you any more details about Resident Evil and Capcom as they are announced. To stay up to date on the news, follow us on Twitter and Facebook or subscribe to our RSS feed.
