Nicalis’ remake of Edmund McMillen and Floria Himsl’s rogue-like The Binding of Isaac now has a release date.

Entitled The Binding of Isaac Rebirth, Nicalis announced that the game would be released on November 4 on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, and on Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux through Steam.

The Binding of Isaac tells the twisted, biblically-inspired tale of a young boy whose mother attempts to murder him after hearing a command from God. Fleeing to the grim basement below their lonely house, Isaac is forced to battle his way to safety, naked and afraid.

The game features top-down, rogue-like action, inspired by the classic dungeon-crawler titles of the past. While the original title featured 16-bit graphics, Rebirth features cleaner, modern textures and visuals to match it’s port over to the next-generation of consoles. The remake also features a new co-op mode, which should liven things up a little. Because only one co-op character can pickup and move objects (the other can fly and whizz around the environments), co-op looks to force players to work together while desperately attempting to stay alive.

The remake also brings 150 new items, 16 new bosses, and three new playable characters. Rebirth is slated to be one of the free games released to PlayStation Plus members.

Checkout the trailer below, but be warned… it’s seriously twisted.
