Camp Santo has released its first trailer for its debut effort, Firewatch, showcasing some gameplay.
In the single-player first-person experience, players assume the role of Henry, a hiker who has taken the position of a forest fire lookout. Set during an especially hot and dry summer in Wyoming, an unexplained event persuades Henry to leave his watchtower and question his job role and his seemingly intimate relationship with his supervisor Delilah, of whom he’s only seen communicating with over radio.
The actual gameplay mechanics of Firewatch are still somewhat up in the air, but according to Camp Santo, “you’ll explore a wild and unknown environment, facing questions and making interpersonal choices that can build or destroy the only meaningful relationship you have.” Sounds deep.
Firewatch was initially announced back in March as the debut effort from Camp Santo, a studio formed by Telltale’s The Walking Dead designers Jake Rodkin and Sean Vanaman, with the inclusion of Nels Anderson of Klei Entertainment’s Mark of the Ninja and well-known graphic designer Olly Moss.
Firewatch is currently set for release sometime in 2015 for PC, Mac and Linux, although Camp Santo has stated that they’re exploring ways to bring the game to consoles.
