Co-op multiplayer coming to Dragon Age: Inquisition

Bioware is set to bring multiplayer to Dragon Age: Inquisition in an “action-packed dungeon-crawling four-player co-op experience.”

In a FAQ posted on the official Dragon Age website, the multiplayer experience is said to include “fast-paced matches requiring strategic team gameplay while adding Inquisition’s tactical class combat and extensive loot and crafting systems.” Bioware has been working on the multiplayer experience for two years, following from the success of the mode in Mass Effect 3, with a goal of creating “a fun dungeon-crawling experience that you can play with your friends.”

Bioware also claimed there will be in-game transactions, though they state that there’s is no pay wall and that everything can be purchased with in-game currency. There will also be no additional achievements for the multiplayer experience, with the single-player campaign being the main focus in that area. Each mode will be completely separate and the outcome of one will not affect the outcome of another. Additionally, item transfers from mode to mode will not be possible.

Curiosity arose regarding Bioware’s decision to include multiplayer. In a statement in the FAQ, they claimed “In Dragon Age: Inquisition, we wanted to focus on five key aspects: Open World, Story, Characters, Visuals, and Inquisition. We also have a new engine (Frostbite 3), and we had to create many new tools to support the huge amount of cinematics and localization that a BioWare title requires. A full MP campaign would have been another layer of complexity, and we decided it wasn’t the right time for the franchise to take on that feature.”

The multiplayer mode will have twelve characters for the player to choose at launch - four for each class between warrior, mage and rogue - which players will be able to level up to a maximum of twenty, before earning Prestige points by promoting your character, allowing you to climb the leaderboards.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be available for release November 18th in North America and November 21st in Europe for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
