Bethesda Softworks has revealed the voiceover cast for The Evil Within.
The cast includes Academy Award nominee Jackie Earle Haley, who is known for roles in Watchmen and A Nightmare on Elm Street, Jennifer Carpenter, who is known for playing Debra Morgan in Dexter, and Anson Mount, best known for playing Cullen Bohannon in Hell on Wheels.
Haley, who played Freddy Krueger in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, will voice Ruvik, the main antagonist in The Evil Within. Anson Mount, making his video game debut, will voice Sebastian Castellanos, the lead protagonist. And lastly, Jennifer Carpenter will voice Juli Kidman, Sebastian’s Junior Detective partner.
“One of the most crucial elements to any successful survival horror game is the setting and sound, which includes the depth and authenticity of the voice acting,” stated lead designer and studio head Shinji Mikami. “We brought together a great cast of experienced actors to help ensure that players really believe our characters’ emotions and the tension they feel in every scene.”
Developed by Tango Gameworks - led by legendary game developer Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil and widely regarded as the father of the Survival Horror genre - The Evil Within has players taking the role of Detective Sebastian Castellanos. Castellanos and his partners are called in to investigate a gruesome mass murder. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead.
The Evil Within will be released on October 14 in North America, October 16 in Australia, and October 17 in Europe on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
