Super Smash Bros. for 3DS footage leaks onto YouTube

Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles

There’s no denying that the one-two punch of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is something that both Nintendo and their fans are anxiously awaiting. With the 3DS title headed for release in October, we’re less than two months from everyone brawling on their handhelds. The Wii U title is coming later in December, with director Sakurai saying this is so they can focus on the removal of bugs from the portable title first.

YouTube user Izat True has uploaded a host of videos of the title which, beyond showing off stages and various modes, reveals three previously unannounced characters: Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles and Bowser Jr. from the Mario franchise are new combatants, while Ganondorf of Zelda fame looks to be returning.

They’re short, poorly recorded, and potentially could be fakes, but there’d be a substantial amount of work involved to do so. One interesting thing to note is that the main player’s name is “ESRB0083,” which may imply that the copy was a leak of an ESRB review copy, or that of an ESRB employee.

Given the inclusion of Shulk and Bowser Jr. (two new combatants), this gives more credence to a recent rumored leak/image, which showed off a character select screen which also included the dog and duck from Duck Hunt (titled as such), Dark Pit (of Kid Icarus: Uprising), and Dr. Mario.

Have we seen all there is from Smash Bros. before the game even comes out?

Nintendo has yet to comment on the footage, but don’t be surprised if it gets taken down quickly.
