Shadowgate, the classic point and click adventure released in the 1980’s, has been revived and is now available exclusively on Steam.
Priced at $19.99, with a launch day price of $18.00, developer Zojoi has revamped the original game to bring it to a new generation after a successfully funded Kickstarter back in 2012 which raised $137,232.
There are many changes and improvements made on the original. First-person adventuring allows the player to utilize the inventory and on-screen commands and prompts to assist you on your quest. The rooms you enter are a mix of new and old environments that have been graphically enhanced. The score comes from composer Rich Douglas, who also did the music for Lifeless Planet and Insurgency. This music can also be swapped out to hear Hiroyuki Masuno’s original NES chip tunes, to make it seem like you’re playing the games as it was in 1989, pixelated room transitions and all.
