Bungie has unveiled a new trailer for upcoming sort-of-but-don’t-say-it MMO shooter Destiny.
The trailer centers around the sweeping desert landscape of Mars, where humanity once built a thriving metropolis, now long lost to them by the encroaching alien threat.
“What little we know of Mars may as well be a myth,” reads the trailer’s description on the game’s official Youtube channel. “We built a massive metropolis in the red dust. No one knows what remains of our lost age, now buried beneath the dunes.”
The brief teaser does show off some new gameplay, with intense firefights full of Guardians teaming up against heavier units, and a couple of brief flashes of vehicle action featuring a vehicle design not dissimilar from the Halo series’ Ghost hovercraft. The video also shows off an impressive Martian vista of sweeping dunes, and half-buried super-structures rising from the red sands. It will be interesting to see how expansive the Mars level actually is, once the game ships in September, given Bungie’s attempts to allay players’ concerns that each planet will only feature one playable area at launch.
