Kano, one of Mortal Kombat’s original playable charaters, is set to return in the latest installment of the franchise, Mortal Kombat X.
In a gameplay trailer released by developer NetherRealm Studios, series co-creator Ed Boon details the three fighting style types that an older and wiser Kano can use as he fights against a new character, D’Vorah. In the Cutthroat variation of fighting, Kano pounds on his cybernetic heart in order to power up his attacks and primarily fights with knives, allowing for some unique combos. Cybernetic Kano gives him more laser eye attacks and grenades, letting him fight with a lot more range and defend against aerial attacks. Finally, the Commando Kano enhances his grappling attacks for a much more closed-in range of fighting.
A new stage is also revealed in the trailer - Jungle - and one of Kano’s fatalities is teased at the end, as Kano grabs D’Vorah from behind and uses his laser eyes to blast a hole through her skull.
Mortal Kombat X is scheduled for release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC in 2015.
