Gamescom 2014: Microsoft Announces the Halo Channel

Halo - Master Chief's Helmet

343 Industries have today unveiled the Halo channel for Xbox One, an interactive digital channel which lets players connect with the Halo games in ways that haven’t been possible before.

Featured within the channel will be a hub for watching videos and highlights, professional streams, gameplay previews and behind-the-scenes content. The Halo channel will also be the home of Halo: Nightfall, an episodic feature which will be released over the span of five weeks later in the year. Users of the Halo channel will earn reward points and be able to complete challenges by using the app, which seems to be an expansion upon Halo Waypoint.

343 Industries has also teamed up with Twitch, which has let them offer new streaming capabilities for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, potentially hinting that they would like to see the game start to be considered an esport.

The Halo channel will launch later this year, presumably around the same time as the release of the Halo: Master Chief Collection.
