SimCity Timed Demo

SimCity Casino City

It’s a little late for a demo for a game that came in March 2013, but Maxis has released a free trial of its latest SimCity for players to mess around with. The demo is only four hours long, and the timer will count down while you’re actively playing. Only single-player mode is available, but that’s enough to give you a taste of what it’s like before running into the city-limit expansion problems that the game was trounced for last year.

In addition to being timed, players can only experience two of the available regions: Cape Trinity and Reflection Atoll. In keeping with the theme of twos, there’s also only two save slots (though, with a four hour limit… who’s going to save?).

Since its release, the game received its long-asked-for single-player mode as well as an expansion, Cities of Tomorrow, but whether or not this oddly late four hour demo is enough to entice more players to Maxis’ title franchise remains to be seen. It seems to be enough time to play but whether or not the game has evolved to be good enough for a purchase, well…. we’re not sure.
