Focus Home Interactive has released a 15 minute gameplay video of Cyanide Studio’s upcoming Styx: Master of Shadows for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
A spin-off of actually-pretty-decent action-adventure Of Orcs and Men, in Styx you play as the first goblin - a master of stealth, theft and murder – who is over two centuries old and scaling the massive tower of Akenash in search of gold and answers, murdering humans and elves along the way. Cyanide wants to highlight a vertical perspective style of gameplay as you climb up the tower solving puzzles and discovering lore and secrets. They have also stressed that levels will be feature an open gameplay philosophy with multiple ways of completion and a wide variety of play styles available to match your taste.
The demo was originally shown off live at E3 earlier this month, but the publisher has released it to the general public after the game had gained some attention from press and fans. The 15 minute video is a small vertical slice of gameplay complete with developer commentary, that tries to keep up the mood and feel for the world that Styx resides in.
The commentary describes some of the rpg mechanics that will be featured in the gameplay, including experience points to spend on 6 talent trees to provide a gaming experience tailored to your style. Styx is shown maneuvering his way through a heavily guarded tower, dispatching guards along the way and hiding their corpses.
The visuals look impressive, and the commentator sticks to the role he’s playing throughout the entire game, and it’s worth a watch if you’re a fan of the stealth genre. For more information on the games features and a detailed developer blog check out the official Styx website.
Enjoy.
