Batman: Arkham Knight Demo Running On PC During Sony E3 Conference

Game developers have famously tried to make their games look as crisp, detailed and visually stunning as possible when showcasing them in trailers or at public events, such as E3. Rather famously, Watch Dogs was shown to the world when it was first revealed with an almost life-like amount of graphical detail, but fell short when it was finally released, with users complaining about the differences between the trailer’s graphical beauty and actual game engine’s capabilities.

It seems that Rocksteady Studios has been the next in line to prompt raised eyebrows. Previewing Batman: Arhkam Knight at E3 during the Sony Conference, it’s since been revealed that the game wasn’t being played on PlayStation 4 at all - but on a PC. Dax Ginn, Marketing Producer at Rocksteady, confirmed the news in a post-conference interview After having been asked what build the demo was running on, he replied: “this is the PC build”.

PCs, of course, are potentially much more powerful than even the current generation of consoles, with greater graphical capabilities. The news will obviously prompt some to speculate whether the final console version of the game will manage to look as good as the gameplay demo demonstrated on Sony’s stage at E3, or whether some of the effects - particularly the rather impressive draw distance shown at the start of the trailer - will need to be scaled back.

We’ll keep you posted as more information arises.

Batman: Arkham Knight will be released in 2015 on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. In the meantime, take another look at the E3 demo for yourself.
