E3: 2014 Story Details Revealed For Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Uncharted 4

Naughty Dog has revealed the first story details for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

“Several years after his last adventure, retired fortune hunter, Nathan Drake, is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves.”

In an interview posted on the PlayStation blog and Youtube - which you can view below - Creative Director Neil Druckman and Game Director Bruce Staley said that they’ve taken inspiration for the game from their work on The Last of Us, particularly the technical constraints they faced, discussing how the PlayStation 4 has allowed them to create much more detailed and open environments.

Sony announced at their E3 press conference that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End would be coming to the PlayStation 4 sometime in 2015. They also released a trailer that showed a beaten and bloody Nathan Drake walking through an unnamed tropical locale. All footage was captured directly from within the game engine, and Naughty Dog has stated that they’re targeting 60 frames per second on PlayStation 4. Meanwhile, they’ve revealed that the model they’re using for Nathan Drake in the new game is made up over twice as many polygons as Joel’s model in The Last of Us. We’re glad story details have been released, but we’re hoping to see some gameplay soon.

Expect A Thief’s End to arrive sometime next year. In the meantime in case you missed it, you can check out the E3 trailer down below.
