E3 2014: Yoshi’s Woolly World Due On The Wii U 2015

Today in their Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo unveiled that they have been collaborating with Good-Feel Company (the team behind Kirby’s Epic Yarn, if that’s not made immediately apparent by the artistic direction) to make Yoshi’s Woolly World on the Wii U. This time around for Mario’s best pal, everything is made of yarn and wool and other assorted materials. And, of course, Yoshi makes use of his ever-versatile tongue to interact with the world around him, swallowing up enemies and turning them into balls of yarn to be thrown every which way for a variety of purposes.

The game will feature co-op multiplayer in which you can team up with a buddy to take on the beautifully thready world. You’ll be able to eat your teammate and use them as an offensive projectile, and while the trailer only showcases this being used for good, it would seem as though less cooperative folk will be able to use the ability to cause plenty of grief, in a similar manner to how New Super Mario Wii U allowed players on a gamepad to wreak havoc on their teammates.

According to developers, exploration will be a key part of Yoshi’s Woolly World. Etsunobu Ebisu of Good-Feel notes that, “With Yoshi games, they don’t have any time limits, so you’re able to freely explore the game world.”

Yoshi’s Woolly World will be released on the Wii U sometime in 2015. Check out the trailer below.
