Bethesda has released the first teaser trailer for DOOM 4 ahead of a full reveal at Quakecon 2014, which takes place at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas between July 17 and July 20.
No gameplay is shown, and there’s no release window - though we do get our first glimpse at the redesigned Cyber Demon. Intriguingly, the teaser refers to the game simply as DOOM. Could the latest installment be a reboot? We’ll find out at Quakecon.
DOOM 4 has had something of a troubled development history. Originally announced all the way back in 2008, it was revealed in 2011 that the title had been restarted completely from scratch. Since then, of course, Zenimax Media acquired id Software and franchise creator John Carmack has since departed to concentrate on his role at Oculus VR - a move which prompted his former employer to commence legal proceedings against the fledgling tech company.
