Call of Duty: Ghosts is about to see its third downloadable content pack be released on Xbox One and Xbox 360 as part of the ongoing Microsoft partnership that Activision currently has for exclusive releases. The pack itself will put four new multiplayer maps on offer to all players who have purchased the pack which include Departed, Pharaoh, Mutiny and Favela.

We’ll go into detail about those maps in just a bit because there’s even more to this pack with an all new chapter in the game’s popular episodic Extinction storyline entitled “Awakening,” in which the team descend into a perilous alien underworld to hit hard at the fortress of the Ancestors. We won’t spoil too much more about it so make sure to go and get your hands on it and see for yourself.

In terms of the new multiplayer maps (which are most certainly the selling point of this pack) not only are we given new settings but also some new Field Orders, which are essentially special assignments that come with specific locations.. The first of these maps is Departed, set in a rural Mexican town celebrating El Dia de los Muertos, a popular traditional festival in Mexico. In this map, the main Field Order players can unlock is the Death Mariachi killstreak where each person killed by them from their dual-wielding pistols will turn into another member of the skeleton Mariachi gang, effectively wiping out the enemy team if they don’t respond accordingly.

The next map is Pharaoh, an abandoned archaeological site located in an Egyptian palace where collapsing monuments and urns filled with flesh-eating scarabs can ruin your chances of getting that lovely sniper kill you have been waiting to get. Those who are fortunate enough to unlock the map’s Field Order will get a nice surprise with the Blessing of Anubis, a half jackal half human protector of the dead who is bound to kick some serious rear.

Mutiny is the third of these four new maps located on a remote Caribbean island, home to a ghostly pirate hideout filled with prison cells and abandoned trading posts where speed is key to getting around with the large number of meandering paths. The Field Order for this particular map will grant them two ghost pirates who will willingly send any player that gets too close down to the depths of the ocean.

The final and most recognizable map is Favela, whom some of you may remember from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 where the Brazilian shantytown has undergone countless changes and refurbishments since we last saw it. One of the many dangers of this map is the shear drop players can encounter when crossing from building to building as well as the map’s Field Order - which is slightly less exciting than the others admittedly but still just as powerful - a Y-8 gunship, a beast of firepower and utter destruction.

You can pick up the DLC now on the Xbox Live store or from the in-game store. Release dates for PSN and PC have yet to be announced.
